Bikram’s yoga for beginners is a specific form of Hatha yoga, developed by Bikram Choudhury, a renowned hatha yoga master. Bikram Yoga is a revolutionary series of 26 postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises (pranayamas), performed in a heated room. Bikram Yoga is suitable for all ages and all levels of ability. Each posture stretches and strenghtens muscles, ligaments and joints preparing the body for the next posture in the series.

Bikram Choudhury
Bikram Choudhury is founder of the worldwide Yoga College of India.
He was born in Calcutta, India in 1946. He began practicing yoga at the age of four under the guidance of his Guru, Bishnu Gosh, the leading physical culturist at the time. Bishnu Gosh was the first man to scientifically document Yoga’s ability to cure chronic physical ailments and heal the body. At the age of 13, Bikram won the National India Yoga Championship. He was undefeated for the following three years and retired as the undisputed All-india National Yoga Champion. With the guidance of his guru, Bikram opened several successfull yoga studios in India and developed his 26 posture series.In 1974, Bikram arrived inthe United States at the invitation of President Nixon. Bikram quickly became the foremost yoga teacher in the west as celebrities, athletes and others began to flock to him. Since that time, he has been healing thousands of students at his studio in Beverly Hills and traveling the workld extensively, bringing the benefits of Bikram Yoga to millions of students worldwide.
